Ripe aromas of cassis, black cherry and cedar open to background notes
of black licorice and cocoa. The palate mirrors the aromas amidst a rich,
firmly structured texture and lengthy finish. The 2006 Archipel is a superb
accompaniment to grilled red meats, sausages, hearty stews and aged
cheeses such as cheddar and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
90 Points - "Good medium ruby. More fruity on the nose than the 2005, offering notes of currant, smoke, licorice, flowers and tobacco. Suppler and sweeter than the 2005 but also more perfumed in the mid-palate, with noteworthy breadth to its black raspberry flavor. Finishes tactile and long, with tongue-coating tannins." - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar May 2009
